Since 2008, I have carried out cutting-edge scientific research in the field of sustainable development technology and evaluation of road engineering (civil transportation infrastructure), paying attention to the combination of scientific theory and engineering practice, and obtained important research results recognized by international peers and applied to engineering practice, with a wealth of articles, which has a certain international influence and academic reputation in this field. Responsible for and participating in more than 15 related scientific research projects in the United States (including 6 as the chief research scientist [PI] and project leader), with a total fund of more than 3 million US dollars, and is now applying for a number of research projects in cooperation. Funding sources include the National Science Foundation (NSF), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, LBNL), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), FAA), Californian Department of Transportation, Caltrans, Californian Environmental Protection Agency, CEPA and other national and state research project funds. The research content covers environment-friendly multi-functional pavement materials, life-cycle environmental impact analysis of road engineering, recycling and utilization of pavement materials, and management of new-generation life-cycle infrastructure system. In the road engineering green environmental protection, low-carbon development, energy saving and emission reduction, multi-functional, intelligent and related new technology engineering application has achieved a lot of innovative research results. At present, he is hosting or participating in a number of research fund projects, such as the National Overseas High-level Talents Project, the National Natural Science Foundation Project, the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission Fund Project, the Hebei Provincial Department of Transport Science and Technology Project, the National Key Laboratory of Highway Construction and Maintenance Technology in Loess Region, the Key Laboratory of Road Structure and Material Transportation Industry Fund and so on.


He has published 112 high-level papers, including 56 SCI indexed academic papers (35 of which are the first author or corresponding author), 22 JCR Q1 Region I papers, and 6 papers rated as TRB Practice-Ready Paper. He has published 1 monograph in English and 2 in Chinese. Total citations 1371 times, the highest single paper 187 times; Authorized and applied for 20 patents, formulated 5 standards, and won 3 provincial and ministerial level awards and above. According to Google Scholar, as of December 2020, his work had been cited more than 1,371 times by researchers from more than a dozen countries and countries, h-index: 20, i10-index: 35, with the highest single article cited 187 times. In the field of civil engineering, it has achieved a high impact factor and citation times. It has obtained 6 authorized national patents (2 invention patents, 4 utility model patents). Research findings have been reported by the US Better Roads, Europe Environmental Research Web, the US LandscapeOnline and many professional media. And a number of research results have been applied in the United States federal government and California government in the relevant guidelines and technical specifications, to guide engineering practice.


Participated in (including some invited) international conferences and university lectures to publicize research results for more than 50 times, Environmental Research Letters, Journal of Environmental Management, Urban Climate, Sustainable Cities and Society, Transportation Research Board, Construction and Building Materials, Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering,  Journal of Transportation Engineering, Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering,  Invited by more than 20 internationally renowned journals and conferences, such as Environment and Natural Resources Research, Road Materials and Pavement Design, as reviewers, invited editors or editorial board members of journals, More than 150 articles have been reviewed and awarded the Outstanding Reviewer Award(Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering) by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 2013. And served on the TRB Committee of Environmental Analysis in Transportation(ADC10), RILEMCommittee of Engineered Healing of Asphalt Concrete (EHA),  ASCECommittee of the Transportation & Development Institute,  ACI Technical Committee of Sustainability of Concrete(ACI 130), ACI Committee of Pervious Concrete(ACI 522),  International Association of Life Cycle Civil Engineering (IALCCE),  Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (AERE) and other international academic committees.
